Description
Spaulding Bridge, constructed in 1933 at Spaulding Dam, is the major link between the city of Springfield and the recreational areas on the east side of Lake Springfield.  The bridge consists of five spans for a total length of 283 feet. The spans consist of a slab spanning between floorbeams.  The floorbeams are supported by three main girders.
     
Services
Hanson provided an investigative study of the bridge that included: collection of field data including concrete cores, deck elevation survey, deck condition survey, and visual observations; review of existing plans and recent bridge inspection report; preparation of final report with findings, recommendations and cost estimates; and construction observation.
     
After approval of the investigative study, Hanson provided plans and specifications for the rehabilitation.
