Project
description
Hanson
acquired the Land and Infrastructure Group of Kenneth Balk &
Associates in 2000. As a result, Hanson now has a
St. Louis location with wide recognition throughout the Midwest
and Central Gulf Coast areas for land and hydrographic surveying
capabilities.
The
surveying services provided by Hanson through our St. Louis office
include:

One
of our most prominent clients is the Corps of Engineers. Below
are services we have provided to their Chicago and St. Louis districts.
Chicago
District
The
Chicago District of the USACE awarded Hanson an indefinite delivery
contract, which included the following services:
- multi-beam
single transducer surveys to ascertain condition of recently constructed
underwater reef in Lake Michigan near Burns Harbor
- cross-section
surveys of 12 miles of the Grand Calumet River
- marine
structure survey of Chicago lock walls to determine deterioration
- side-scan
sonar survey of inner and outer breakwaters at Waukegan, Chicago
and Michigan City harbors to determine condition
St.
Louis district
We
received several indefinite delivery contacts to provide surveying
services to the St. Louis district of the USACE:
- hydrographic
surveys on Mississippi, Illinois, Kaskaskia and Ohio rivers
- scour
surveys at Melvin Price Lock and Dam and Kaskaskia Lock and Dam
- surveys
to determine unknown underwater obstructions
- levee
breach surveys during severe floods of 1993, for which we also
received a certificate of appreciation from the St. Louis district
- side-scan
sonar survey of concrete stilling basin at lower end of lock and
dam #24 on Mississippi River
- primary
horizontal control traverses for hydrographic and aerial surveys
on Mississippi and Illinois rivers
- baseline
sedimentation profile surveys at Swan Lake, Stump Lake, Stag Island
and Quivre Island
