Jim
Edgar Panther Creek State Fish
and Wildlife Area design
Client: Illinois Department of Natural Resources
Location: Cass County, Ill.
We
incorporated data gathered from environmental studies conducted
at the 15,574-acre Jim Edgar Panther Creek (JEPC) State Fish and
Wildlife Area into a GIS database. Data included an inventory and
mapping of all natural communities at the JEPC area, and field investigations
for aquatic resources, wetlands, threatened and endangered species
and cultural resources within the impact area.
Mapped
coverage included property boundaries, roads, streams, potential
lake sites, geotechnical engineering data, mined-out coal areas,
bat sampling data, threatened and endangered species data, potential
waste sites, forested areas, breeding bird census data, migratory
bird data, wetland locations and archeological sites. The database
was used during permitting procedures and also will be used for
the department's long-term planning and management of the JEPC.
